Hi, my name is Owen Allen.

I have established Phoenix Functions as an educational theatre venture to facilitate in some small way the ability of the local community to adapt to the social changes ahead.

Global society is in a period of great change. Population growth, an older population, and environmental changes, will impact every community on the planet, even this remote corner.

It is impossible for anyone to know the right answer to the many complex problems that our communities are required to solve. The famous editor, H.L. Mencken wrote in 1920, " There is always a well-known solution to every human problem - neat, plausible, and wrong."

Yet, by working and learning together communities can become marvelous in addressing their challenges and advancing the society. Key to learning and working together is the ability to consult on the challenges we are confronted. Consultation cannot develop without empathy.

Phoenix Functions will produce and host events designed to facilitate empathy with people across diverse points of view, raising the level of unity around challenges in community life. The events will be educational, theatrical, and participatory.

Phoenix Functions can custom design facilitation for your group, organisation or community event, drawing on all the talents and knowledge of the participants, and any external sources, from the arts, sciences, religions, philosophies, and community action, in a dynamic learning atmosphere.
